Product overview
The YQX Industrial IPC is the computing platform we build into terminals, and supply separately to integrators who need a controller for equipment, display systems or kiosk retrofit work. It is specified for unattended operation: the unit is expected to run continuously, in an enclosure, without anyone watching it.
Why an industrial platform rather than a commercial PC
A commercial desktop PC is designed for a climate-controlled office and a three-to-five year refresh cycle. An industrial terminal controller is expected to survive years inside an enclosure, restart cleanly after a power interruption, and still be replaceable with the same form factor when it finally fails.
Three design choices follow from that:
- Long-lifecycle sourcing. The mainboard platform is selected so that replacements remain available across the service life of a deployed fleet, rather than being obsoleted a year after installation.
- Thermal design without a fan where possible. A fanless aluminium chassis removes the intake that pulls dust into the enclosure and removes a mechanical part that wears out.
- Unattended-operation behaviour. Watchdog timer, power-on auto-restart and a configurable boot state so a unit that loses power comes back on its own.
Where it is used
- Inside our own terminals — the computing module in the self-service kiosks and touch terminals in this catalogue.
- Display and queue systems — the controller behind a calling-display installation.
- Equipment control — serial, USB and GPIO interfaces to drives, sensors, printers and scanners.
- Kiosk retrofit — replacing the controller in an existing enclosure whose housing is still sound.
I/O and expansion
Serial ports are the interface that most equipment integration still depends on, so the platform is configured with multiple RS-232/RS-485 ports as standard, alongside USB, Gigabit Ethernet, GPIO and dual-display output. The exact mix is part of the configuration, and connector types are matched to the cable assembly in your installation.
Software
We supply the unit with the operating system image and driver set your application needs — Windows, Linux or Android — and can pre-configure autostart, network settings and peripheral initialisation so that commissioning on site is a matter of connecting the cables.
Ordering
This platform can be ordered as a standalone unit for evaluation, or specified as the computing module inside a terminal we build for you. Sample lead time is 7–14 days; mass production is 20–35 days depending on configuration and quantity.
Specifications on this page describe the configurable platform. Final values are confirmed against the component list issued with your quotation.
